🔍 Role Overview

My Design Minds is actively hiring for Mechanical Design Engineer Jobs focused on Scan-to-3D CAD conversion, reverse engineering, and production-ready mechanical design for industrial and manufacturing clients. This role is critical for executing international projects, including on-site work in Nigeria, and therefore demands strong technical capability, ownership mindset, and real-world engineering exposure.

This is not a desk-only CAD job. The selected engineer will work on actual components, scanned data, manufacturing constraints, and site execution challenges. Candidates must be technically sound, detail-oriented, and confident in converting raw scan data into accurate, parametric, and manufacturable CAD models.

Mechanical Design Engineers will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including tooling, quality, and production to ensure every design meets global manufacturing standards and client specifications. Responsibilities include validating scan accuracy, rebuilding legacy parts, optimizing assemblies for cost-effective fabrication, and supporting prototype-to-production transitions. Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD platforms, GD&T knowledge, and hands-on understanding of machining or fabrication processes are highly preferred. The role requires communication with international stakeholders, adherence to project timelines, and a proactive approach to solving engineering problems.

🛠 Key Responsibilities

🔹 Scan to 3D CAD & Reverse Engineering

  • Convert 3D scan data (STL, mesh, point cloud) into accurate, fully constrained, parametric CAD models

  • Understand and work with outputs from 3D scanners (laser scanners, structured light scanners, handheld scanners)

  • Clean, repair, align, and reconstruct scan data for CAD conversion

  • Ensure dimensional accuracy, tolerance control, and feature integrity during reverse engineering

  • Redesign components where required for improved manufacturability and performance

🔹 3D Modeling & Engineering Drawings

  • Create detailed 3D models using SolidWorks and/or Siemens UG-NX (NX CAD)

  • Develop 2D manufacturing drawings, including GD&T, tolerances, surface finish notes, and assembly details

  • Prepare drawings suitable for machining, casting, fabrication, welding, and assembly

  • Support design validation, revisions, and engineering change management

🔹 Manufacturing & Execution Support

  • Apply practical knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, casting, fabrication, sheet metal, and welding

  • Coordinate with vendors and workshops to validate design feasibility

  • Provide on-site technical support during project execution in Nigeria when required

  • Assist in component inspection, measurement verification, and design troubleshooting at client sites

🔹 Documentation & Coordination

  • Maintain structured design documentation and version control

  • Work closely with project managers, quality teams, vendors, and clients

  • Support fast turnaround projects under tight timelines without compromising quality

✅ Mandatory Skills & Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

  • 3–4 years of hands-on experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Strong expertise in Scan to 3D CAD / Reverse Engineering

  • Advanced working knowledge of SolidWorks and Siemens UG-NX

  • Proven ability to create manufacturing-ready engineering drawings

  • Good understanding of 3D scanning technologies and workflows

  • Strong fundamentals of mechanical engineering and manufacturing processes

  • Valid Passport (Mandatory)

  • Willingness to travel to Nigeria for project execution when required

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment

➕ Good to Have (Preferred but Not Mandatory)

  • Experience with heavy engineering, steel plants, mining, or industrial components

  • Exposure to metrology, inspection tools, or quality checks

  • Prior experience working on international or on-site projects

💰 Salary & Benefits

  • ₹30,000 – ₹40,000 per month, depending on technical expertise
